OACETT is looking at making two significant changes to your association and is asking that you please take a few minutes to complete the name and title change survey.
The feedback collected from the survey will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of OACETT.
Survey closes on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
Please note, the survey will provide more detailed information on the changes listed below.
Change #1 - C.E.T. to P.Tech.
As President Mooney highlighted during the AGM on June 1, 2024, Technology Professionals Canada (TPC) is considering renaming the Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) certification to Professional Technologist (P.Tech.). The renaming is intended to create a common national certification for technologists, the same as we have for technicians with Certified Technician (C.Tech).
The estimated cost to transition to the P.Tech. is $160,000.
Change #2 - OACETT Name Change
Given that there will be a fairly significant investment in marketing and communications related to the renaming of the C.E.T certification to establish the new brand, the Board is also interested in gathering members' thoughts on changing the name of OACETT at the same time. Updating the OACETT name would enable alignment to the new P.Tech. certification and the C.Tech. certification, modernize its brand, and allow for economies in the marketing efforts required to make this change if completed in tandem.
The estimated cost to change OACETT's name is $90,000.
The Board will be reviewing all the feedback from members, and if there appears to be sufficient support resulting from the consultation exercise, this will come to the members for a vote at the AGM on June 7, 2025. Further consultation will also take place during the Annual Chapter Meetings early next year.
