On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Culture Ally facilitator Matthew Fleming and Belonging and Inclusion Chair (BIC) Lara Widdifield, C.E.T., hosted a webinar on Cultural Competency & Psychological Safety in Technology Environments. This session explored how cultural competency and psychological safety show up in real-world technology environments.

Topics included:

  • Cultural competency and its connection to belonging and inclusion
  • Unconscious bias and cultural assumptions in technical settings
  • Equity-deserving groups and inclusion on job sites and with technical teams in the workplace
  • Psychological safety and its role in inclusion and high performance
  • Practical strategies for being a champion of inclusion
  • Reflection, commitment, feedback survey, and Q&A

Members had the opportunity to engage directly with the facilitator and content through interactive activities and discussion, including live polling and reflection using Slido. Participants left with practical tools and a clear, personal commitment they could apply in their everyday professional context.
